Spanish fashion brand Massimo Dutti has officially expanded its retail footprint in Italy with the grand opening of its monumental new flagship store in Rome. Situated inside the historic 16th-century Palazzo Ruspoli along the bustling Via del Corso, the sprawling retail destination spans over 2,000 square meters (approximately 21,527 square feet). The ambitious project seamlessly integrates the brand’s contemporary clothing collections within centuries-old architecture, expertly pairing the palace’s original structural elements—such as soaring vaulted ceilings and a magnificent palatial staircase—with modern wooden furniture, large-format rugs, and lightweight displays tailored for high-end fashion retail.
The opening marks a significant architectural and commercial milestone for the brand, offering local shoppers and international visitors alike a unique spatial experience where historical heritage meets modern design sensibilities. Rather than concealing the building’s storied past, the interior concept elevates it, allowing the retail architecture to converse directly with Rome’s rich historical legacy.

PRESERVING HISTORIC ROME PALACE VAULTS AND ARCHES
Visitors arriving at Massimo Dutti’s new Roman flagship are immediately welcomed by a grand architectural sequence. Guests enter the space by ascending a wide, original stone staircase that leads gracefully into a series of interconnected arched rooms. To achieve this careful balance between past and present, the brand commissioned a comprehensive heritage study followed by a meticulous restoration carried out by specialized artisans. As a result of these efforts, the authentic 16th-century finishes remain fully visible to the public.
Illumination plays a critical role in defining the atmosphere of the interior. Rather than utilizing harsh overhead lighting, designers installed subtle, indirect lighting fixtures at the base of the architectural vaults. This design choice accentuates the rhythmic flow of the original arches without obscuring or damaging the historic masonry.

Complementing the stone architecture, the fashion brand curated a deliberate material palette focused on natural wood and tactile fabrics. Understated sofas and streamlined display units are distributed throughout the rooms, creating an intimate, residential feel within the monumental space. As visitors transition toward the checkout area, the interior atmosphere shifts noticeably: the color palette deepens into richer tones, and tall, bespoke bookshelves line the walls, enclosing the space in a warm, library-like ambiance.
To celebrate the store’s grand opening, the flagship curated several exclusive cultural and sensory collaborations. The location hosts a temporary olfactory archive developed in partnership with renowned Florentine perfumery Profumoir. Guests are invited to sample the perfumery’s primary fragrance notes presented in delicate, flame-worked glass holders specifically produced by Barcelona-based experimental artist Pia Glasswork.

Furthermore, the brand partnered with independent Roman bookshop Leporello Books to curate a specialized library comprising nearly 100 carefully selected titles dedicated to art and architecture. Adding an intimate, personal touch to the retail experience, 20 of these book selections feature handwritten notes penned directly by the bookshop’s founder.
DEBUT OF MASSIMO DUTTI’S FALL/WINTER 2026 LIMITED EDITION
Occupying the first floor of the Palazzo Ruspoli flagship are the brand’s complete men’s and women’s collections. Most notably, the space serves as the official debut venue for Massimo Dutti’s highly anticipated Fall/Winter 2026 Limited Edition collection.

The garments featured in this seasonal rollout place a heavy emphasis on sophisticated tailoring and craftsmanship. The collection showcases sharply structured jackets, fluid wide-leg trousers, and elegant, sweeping long coats. These signature pieces are designed to be mixed and matched, pairing supple leather garments with rich knitwear and diaphanous, lightweight fabrics. The overarching color narrative of the collection remains sophisticated and restrained, relying on a classic palette composed of black, deep chocolate, rich gray, taupe, camel, and stone.
To ensure a seamless shopping experience within the historic building, the flagship operates equipped with a suite of advanced digital services. Among these offerings is a dedicated concierge service designed to manage delayed collections or coordinate direct deliveries to local hotels. Store staff are also outfitted with mobile inventory devices, enabling them to assist customers anywhere on the vast shop floor. Additionally, online orders can be processed and prepared for convenient in-store pickup in under two hours.

The brand’s presence also extends well beyond the physical boundaries of the Palazzo Ruspoli. Bringing a taste of traditional Roman culture into the retail journey, the flagship serves specialty coffee provided by Caffè Doria. At the same time, Massimo Dutti has established a temporary artistic installation situated within the historic courtyard of the nearby Palazzo Doria Pamphilj, bridging multiple historic landmarks across the Italian capital.
