Optical Arts Choreographs Thousands of Falling Mops in Dynamic CG Campaign for Dyson

London-based creative studio Optical Arts and Creative Director Fabrice Le Nezet have reimagined the traditional product commercial for Dyson, turning the spotlight away from standard feature lists and conventional beauty shots to deliver a high-energy, visually striking campaign for the Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene vacuum-mop. Published on October 23, 2026, the new project showcases how advanced computer-generated imagery can be leveraged to inject rhythm, momentum, and artistic flair into high-end home appliance marketing.

Rather than relying on typical demonstrations of domestic cleaning, the creative team opted for a grand, hypnotic spectacle. At the heart of the film is a meticulously engineered chain reaction featuring thousands of individual mops. According to Optical Arts, the ambitious concept required an extensive research and development phase to establish a robust custom CG setup. This technical framework allowed the studio to generate thousands of mops falling in unison, each interacting with realistic physics while retaining the precise artistic control needed to art direct and choreograph every individual scene.

Drawing inspiration from analogue footage and the driving tempo of modern music videos, the production balances a grounded, tactile aesthetic with a grand scale. The resulting film successfully merges the unpredictable nature of real-world physics with a highly considered visual language, creating a dynamic environment where everyday objects take on mesmerizing choreographic forms. In various frames of the campaign, vacuum bodies and mop attachments are arranged in vast, minimalist halls, forming symmetrical arches, concentric circular patterns, and repeating architectural perspectives that highlight both the design precision of Dyson’s hardware and the artistic ambition of the studio.

The project highlights the ongoing collaboration between Dyson and Optical Arts, a studio frequently tracked for its ambitious digital feats in high-end commercial animation. For this latest outing, the core creative and technical execution was driven by a tight-knit team. Under the guidance of Executive Producer Hannah May and Producer Benedict Kazemi, CG Lead Thomas Ramboz spearheaded the simulation work, supported by CG artists Serap Karaduman, Mattia Ker, Flora Macleod, and Nicolas Damour. The detailed modeling work was handled by Emma Malric and Sergi De La Sheras, with 2D artistry contributed by Ahmed El Azma and editing by Greg Hayes.

To achieve the film’s distinct look and tactile feel, the project relied on specialized post-production partnerships. The grade was executed by Time Based Arts, featuring color grading by Daniela Rotaru, while the immersive audio landscape that drives the rhythm of the piece was crafted by the sound design team at 750mph.
