DDPAI Raises the Dash Cam Bar with the Z100 Master Featuring DualFocal Technology and Smart Aperture

Hot on the heels of its impressive Z90 Master flagship release, dash cam manufacturer DDPAI is once again pushing the boundaries of vehicle surveillance technology with the launch of its newest and most advanced flagship model yet: the Z100 Master. While the Z90 Master turned heads in December 2025 with its comprehensive three-channel setup offering a 4K front camera, 4K rear camera, and 3K cabin camera configuration, the newly unveiled Z100 Master introduces a series of groundbreaking optical innovations designed to solve one of the most persistent challenges in vehicle recording—capturing distant license plates with absolute clarity under varying lighting conditions.

The automotive camera market is fiercely competitive, and manufacturers frequently market features as industry firsts by focusing on minute technical details. However, the DDPAI Z100 Master introduces a genuinely innovative hardware architecture that sets a new benchmark for the category. At the heart of this new system is what the manufacturer calls "DualFocal technology" paired with a smart aperture system, representing a major leap forward in how forward-facing road events are captured and documented.

Unlike conventional single-lens forward cameras, the front-facing module of the Z100 Master houses two distinct camera sensors within a single, integrated housing. The primary module is a wide-angle 4K camera equipped with a 20mm-equivalent lens offering a sprawling 131-degree field of view. This wide perspective ensures that multi-lane highways, peripheral traffic, pedestrians, and roadside signage are comprehensively captured in high-resolution detail.

Complementing this wide-angle lens is a secondary, telephoto camera module featuring an 86mm-equivalent focal length and a narrower 28-degree field of view, recording footage in crisp 2K resolution. This dual-module pairing provides drivers with the ultimate compromise-free solution: the wide-angle camera maintains broad situational awareness, while the dedicated telephoto lens zeroes in on the road directly ahead. According to specifications released by DDPAI, this dual-focal approach delivers long-range visibility of up to 100 meters, with license plates remaining distinctly readable at distances of up to 60 meters.

While the concept of incorporating a telephoto lens into automotive monitoring is not entirely unprecedented—rival manufacturer VIOFO previously introduced a telephoto option with the T340 model—that implementation required a separate secondary camera unit to be installed alongside the primary wide-angle device. The engineering achievement of the Z100 Master lies in its ability to integrate both the wide-angle and telephoto sensors into a single, cohesive front unit. This unified design significantly simplifies the installation process, resulting in a much neater, less obtrusive setup on the windshield while maintaining maximum coverage.

Imaging capabilities are further bolstered by the inclusion of a 4K rear camera, which utilizes Sony’s renowned IMX678 image sensor. Originally developed for high-end security and surveillance applications, this sensor allows the Z100 Master’s rear camera to match the exceptional quality of the front-facing main unit. Many multi-channel dash cam systems compromise on rear video performance by utilizing inferior sensors, but DDPAI’s design ensures that drivers receive identical, high-definition clarity regardless of whether an incident occurs in front of or behind the vehicle.

Beyond its dual-focal array, the wide-angle front-facing camera introduces an advanced smart aperture system featuring a motorized dual aperture lens capable of automatically switching between f/1.0 and f/2.0 apertures. This dynamic adaptability is engineered to optimize exposure in real time. In low-light environments, such as night driving or poorly lit tunnels, the ultra-wide f/1.0 aperture opens up to permit maximum light entry, yielding brighter, cleaner images that retain critical details like vehicle plates. Conversely, when driving in bright, high-contrast daylight conditions, the lens shifts to an f/2.0 aperture to balance overall exposure, effectively mitigating the risk of blown-out highlights and overexposed video frames.

As expected from a modern flagship device, the Z100 Master is equipped with comprehensive connectivity features. Built-in Wi-Fi 6 technology enables ultra-fast file transfers, allowing drivers to quickly download critical video clips to their smartphones immediately following an incident or collision. For those who prefer reviewing footage directly on the device, the camera incorporates a clear 3-inch IPS LCD display. Additionally, optional 4G connectivity support provides remote vehicle monitoring, enabling users to stay connected and receive real-time alerts regardless of their physical location, offering an extra layer of security and peace of mind.

Accurate location tracking is handled by broad multi-satellite support, including GPS, BDS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS systems, ensuring reliable route logging and positioning data. To protect vital evidence against sudden power failures resulting from severe collisions, the system integrates a dependable supercapacitor as a short-term power backup, guaranteeing that finalized video files are safely written and stored before power is lost.

For comprehensive round-the-clock protection, the Z100 Master supports advanced parking monitoring functionality when paired with an optional hardwire kit. Users can choose between a continuous 5fps time-lapse recording mode or an intelligent collision detection mode that keeps the system in a low-power standby state, waking the camera instantly only when physical movement or impact is detected. To prevent vehicle battery depletion during extended parking sessions, the system features built-in low-voltage battery protection.

At present, the DDPAI Z100 Master has seen its initial regional release rollout in Saudi Arabia, where it is priced at the local equivalent of approximately $480 or £357. Automotive technology enthusiasts and safety-conscious drivers in other major global markets are anticipating broader international availability in the near future.
