In a sweeping structural reorganization designed to streamline licensing and maximize value for its artists and songwriters, Warner Music Group (WMG) has announced plans to combine its global sync operations, bringing together its recorded music and publishing divisions into a single, unified unit.
The newly streamlined global group will be led by industry veteran Ron Broitman, who has been promoted to the role of President of Global Sync. Based out of Los Angeles, Broitman will report directly to recently appointed WMG Chief Operating Officer Tom Corson. In addition to his reporting line to Corson, Broitman will receive additional oversight from Guy Moot, the Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Warner Chappell Music, ensuring that both the publishing and recorded sides of the business remain deeply integrated and expertly guided.
Under this comprehensive new structure, Broitman will take the helm of WMG’s sync teams located around the world. This expansive remit includes team members across Warner Chappell, Atlantic Music Group, Warner Records Group, and ADA distribution. According to the official corporate announcement, the consolidated division will assume full responsibility for a wide spectrum of operational and creative functions. These include creative pitching and marketing, new business development, licensing clearance, administrative duties, and sophisticated data analytics across all of WMG’s sync rights globally.
Before stepping into this elevated global role, Broitman held a closely related position within the company as Executive Vice President and Head of Sync for both the publishing and recorded-music divisions. In that capacity, he successfully oversaw a joint sync operation within the United States, giving him a proven blueprint for the wider international expansion announced today.
The structural shift is intended to fundamentally transform how media creators, filmmakers, advertisers, and gaming companies interact with the music conglomerate. "The new structure gives clients a single point of entry to WMG’s full catalog of recorded music and music publishing, creating a simpler, more efficient licensing experience," the company stated in its official announcement. Furthermore, the company emphasized that streamlined clearances will significantly accelerate turnaround times for projects on tight schedules. At the same time, a combined, globally coordinated approach will dramatically expand pitching reach across WMG’s extensive roster of talent.
Tom Corson, WMG’s Chief Operating Officer, praised Broitman’s capabilities and outlined the strategic advantages of the reorganization. "Ron operates at the highest level and has been a bedrock of our best-in-class sync operation over the years with his steady leadership, extensive network and deep expertise in the field," Corson noted. "This change establishes one creative strategy, one commercial business conversation, one clearance and one admin path for all WMG sync rights globally, speeding our path to market, simplifying the client experience and expanding opportunities for our artists, songwriters and the creative community."
Guy Moot, Chair and CEO of Warner Chappell Music, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the growth potential for the publishing arm. "Bringing music publishing and WMG’s recorded business together under one roof is an ambitious growth move that sets us apart from the competition and will unlock even more value for our songwriters," Moot said. He added a reassuring note regarding the continued advocacy for writers within the massive new structure: "Our WCM team will remain embedded in our sync business to ensure our writers continue to receive the care, focus and creative pitching they deserve."
Broitman’s appointment comes on the heels of a highly successful tenure as EVP of Global Sync for WMG’s recorded music business. In that role, his team secured high-profile placements spanning major cultural touchstones, ranging from the Super Bowl to the dramatic finale of Netflix’s cultural phenomenon "Stranger Things." Most recently, Broitman’s division successfully landed Led Zeppelin’s legendary rock anthem "Stairway to Heaven" in the promotional trailer for Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated upcoming feature film, "Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew." These high-impact placements illustrate the commercial potency and cultural relevance of the catalogs under his purview.
Broitman brings a deep well of industry experience to his new position as President of Global Sync. Before joining the team at Warner Music Group, he served as Senior Vice President of Film, TV, and Advertising at Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Prior to his time at Sony/ATV, Broitman worked with BMG Music Publishing. During his tenure there, he successfully managed the complex merger of, and subsequently oversaw, the joint sync business for all catalogs belonging to BMG and Zomba Music Publishing, alongside BMG’s recorded music labels. That foundational experience in managing consolidated operations across both publishing and recorded music arms positions him uniquely to execute WMG’s current global integration strategy.
As the entertainment landscape continues to demand faster turnaround times, seamless multi-rights clearances, and aggressive creative pitching across film, television, advertising, and interactive media, Warner Music Group’s structural consolidation represents a major bet on efficiency and market responsiveness. By tearing down historical silos between recorded music and publishing divisions, the company aims to provide a frictionless experience for external partners while opening up broader, more lucrative sync avenues for the generations of songwriters, artists, and creators whose catalogs populate the WMG ecosystem.
