The Art Directors Club (ADC), recognized globally as the planet’s longest continuously running creative awards program, is refusing to act its age. For its milestone 106th edition, the venerable institution has partnered with the London-based motion design crew at DixonBaxi to launch a vibrant, joyfully anarchic campaign that reimagines how creative excellence is celebrated.

For more than a century, the ADC has served as a benchmark for recognizing groundbreaking work that pushes its respective disciplines forward. At the heart of this legacy is its iconic Cube, an enduring symbol of creative standard-setting. The Cube has long been awarded to visionary projects spanning a diverse array of fields, including traditional design, advertising, film, photography, illustration, typography, gaming, artificial intelligence, and newly emerging creative disciplines. However, rather than treating the prestigious Cube as a static, untouchable symbol of past achievement, the DixonBaxi team chose to transform it into the epicenter from which everything else erupts.

Across the length of the new campaign, the Cube refuses to remain still. It stretches, fractures, multiplies, and actively misbehaves. The visual landscape is characterized by colliding colors, rapid-fire ideas, and typography that flips dynamically from delicate to feral. The visual elements constantly pull apart before snapping back into new, unexpected tensions.

According to the creators at DixonBaxi, the resulting aesthetic is restless, elastic, and entirely alive. They describe it as a visceral expression of the ADC’s perpetual search for what comes next in the creative industries. By dismantling traditional expectations of a prestige awards campaign, the initiative turns a symbol of past achievement into an open invitation for creators to discover the unusual and the extraordinary. It stands as a loud, expressive celebration of the raw instinct, friction, and sheer exhilaration of creativity itself, proudly championing the pioneers, the misfits, and the restless minds that refuse to settle for the status quo.

The visual language of the campaign is built intentionally around the messy, unfiltered reality of the creative process. It embraces experimentation alongside instinct, balances flow with friction, and highlights the inevitable wrong turns that lead to unexpected breakthroughs. It captures the dual nature of creative work—the thrill of discovery, the contrast between quiet concentration and unruly outbursts, and an overarching refusal to sit still.

To bring this multifaceted visual world to life, DixonBaxi collaborated closely with audio specialists Zelig Sound. Together, they crafted a bespoke sonic landscape that adds an entirely new dimension to the search for creative evolution. The resulting sound design captures the nerve, heat, flow, and friction of the campaign, wrapping the kinetic visuals in an auditory experience that matches its restless energy.

The 106th Annual Awards campaign is produced for The One Club for Creativity and the Art Directors Club, with motion production led by DixonBaxi and sound design provided by Zelig Sound.
