Rather than relying on the conventional conventions of sports product advertising—which typically feature pristine gear in clinical studio settings or sanitized footage of athletes in motion—the Madrid-based studio opted for a cinematic approach. By turning up the volume on physical consequences and kinetic energy, the new campaign introduces the Xplo 02 through the wreckage it leaves in its wake.
Moving Beyond Sports Video Clichés
For the creative team at Kutuko, the objective was clear from the outset: break away from predictable tropes while effectively communicating the raw, unadulterated power engineered into the new racket. Ibón Vergara, lead 3D artist at Kutuko, shed light on the creative philosophy behind the project, emphasizing the desire to build a more compelling narrative concept.
"We wanted to move away from the typical sports product video to build a more narrative concept," Vergara explained, noting the unique hurdles the team faced during production. "The real challenge was how to show raw force without falling into predictable clichés."
To solve this creative puzzle, the studio conceived a scenario centered on a heavily damaged and destroyed court following an intense match. This striking visual environment serves as the canvas to reveal the immense power of the Xplo 02, immediately building intrigue for the viewer. Instead of showing the racket in isolation, the production team carefully tweaked the timing of every single shot, meticulously designing the sequence to cultivate a profound sense of inertia and impending impact.
The resulting visual journey flows through a continuously accelerating sequence. From the very first frame, the pacing steadily builds, establishing the dominant, forceful character of the Xplo 02 padel racket and setting a relentless tone that refuses to let up.
