Abstract Clarity: Illo Illuminates Everpure and Bloomberg TV in New Brand Film Series

The multidisciplinary design studio Illo has unveiled its latest explainer project, a striking series of brand films developed in collaboration with Bloomberg TV for data platform company Everpure. Spearheaded by creative directors Ilenia Notarangelo and Arianna Cristiano alongside their talented design crew, the project relies heavily on purposeful abstraction to distill complex technological concepts into digestible, visually compelling narratives built specifically for short attention spans and lightning-fast media environments.

Everpure specializes in building secure, unified data platforms engineered precisely for the high-speed demands of modern artificial intelligence. When Bloomberg TV and Everpure approached Illo with the initial brief, the primary challenge was daunting in its simplicity: explain what high-speed, secure, unified data infrastructure actually means, and do so in a fraction of a second. According to Notarangelo and Cristiano, the studio’s definitive answer to this design problem was abstraction. Because cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence are notoriously difficult concepts to picture literally, the creative team decided to give each abstract idea a distinct shape of its own, utilizing advanced software tools like Cavalry and After Effects to let the shapes do the heavy lifting of storytelling.

For the creators at Illo, motion serves two distinct and essential functions within a modern branding ecosystem: making things clear and making things feel. The clarity portion of the equation is achieved by assigning every individual shape one single, unambiguous idea. In this visual taxonomy, a solid monolith represents legacy infrastructure, a clean flat plane symbolizes the unified platform, shifting gradients denote artificial intelligence, and small, organized rectangles stand in for raw data. By establishing these strict visual metaphors, the movement of the objects naturally explains how they relate to one another within a broader technological landscape.

The emotional resonance of the films, meanwhile, stems directly from rhythm and timing. The precise cadence with which these geometric shapes shift, morph, and recombine is ultimately how a modern corporate brand discovers and articulates its unique tone of voice. A successful motion system, the studio notes, must operate simultaneously on both of these levels. It requires rigid rules that keep every individual film immediately recognizable as part of a cohesive series, alongside fluid sensory qualities that grant each chapter its own distinct identity. Through this thoughtful approach, foundational design elements travel seamlessly across the entire series while evolving organically along the way.

Because data serves as the central subject matter of these brand films, it is given ample room to inhabit the screen prominently. Throughout the series, charts and labels make frequent appearances, constructed meticulously from the very same geometric shapes that drive the narrative storyline. In this fluid system, a static monolith can easily transform into a towering column within a dynamic chart, while clusters of small rectangles gather together and travel across the frame. Every individual piece of data proudly wears an informative label detailing its exact nature, ranging from sensitive security details like passwords and biometrics to mundane metadata such as billing methods, phone numbers, customer identification numbers, and geographic locations.

Behind the vibrant final frames lies a sophisticated technical workflow involving clever compositing and digital craftsmanship. The mesmerizing gradients chosen to visually represent artificial intelligence were originally constructed in Cavalry, cleverly initialized starting from foundational video footage. Meanwhile, the imposing monoliths, the unified platform planes, and the intricate data charts are all crafted to possess a rich, tactile, three-dimensional look. Despite their convincing depth and weight, the entirety of these multi-layered visual elements was expertly composited within After Effects, successfully bridging the gap between flat vector design and convincing three-dimensional aesthetics.

The realization of this comprehensive campaign was made possible through a coordinated effort between the client teams at Bloomberg and the production crew at Illo. On the client side, the project involved senior creative video producer Victoria Duncan, global deputy editor Mike Olson, art director Nicholas Garber, and senior creative content lead Jack Eiselt.

Meanwhile, the production was brought to life at Illo under the leadership of creative directors Ilenia Notarangelo and Arianna Cristiano, alongside motion lead Dave Cubbitt. The design execution was handled by Alessandra Marin and Michele Giamello, with motion design contributions provided by Miguel D’Errico and Riccardo Chiara. Daniel Ceballos served as producer for the project, while Giovanna Crise managed the portfolio case study documentation, cementing a collaborative milestone that merges financial media broadcasting with cutting-edge tech design.
