Vogue World: Milano Set to Celebrate Italian Craftsmanship and the Human Touch in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

Following exuberant and theatrical iterations in New York, London, Paris, and Los Angeles, Vogue World is officially making its journey to Italy. The global fashion celebration will take over Milan this September, kicking off on the very first day of Milan Fashion Week with an overarching theme centered on uplifting craftsmanship and the human touch in an increasingly digital and technologically driven era.

The announcement was made official during a press conference held in the Sala Alessi at Palazzo Marino, following an exclusive luncheon at Marchesi co-hosted by Prada and Vogue. The upcoming event promises to bring together the rich heritage of Italian design and modern innovation, creating an unforgettable spectacle in one of Europe’s great style capitals.

“We are so excited that Milan will be the next city to host Vogue World in 2026,” Francesca Ragazzi, Vogue Italia’s head of editorial content, said in a statement. “This extraordinary event offers a unique opportunity to celebrate with a global audience the timeless story of Made in Italy, a story of genius and craftsmanship. It feels particularly meaningful to do so at this moment in time, in the era of artificial intelligence.”

When is Vogue World: Milano?

Taking place just a few months after the city co-hosted the Winter Olympic Games, Milan will serve as the magnificent backdrop for Vogue World’s sweeping celebration of handicraft on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Organized over a series of thematic acts, Vogue World: Milano will survey and celebrate fashion’s unique ability to preserve heritage, drive innovation, and shape the future. The programming will explore a continuous dialogue between the hand and the machine, moving seamlessly from the intricate brocade work of the Renaissance period to industrial wool, and from screen-based imagery to traditional textiles. Leading Italian fashion houses, master artisans, and a roster of international talent will collaborate to tell this comprehensive story of design evolution.

Where will Vogue World: Milano be held?

The focal point of the global celebration will be the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the historic, glass-topped shopping arcade nestled at the very heart of the city between La Scala and the majestic Duomo.

“Milan is one of the great European capitals of craftsmanship, where heritage and modernity meet, and where art, literature, opera and industry have long converged,” Anna Wintour, Condé Nast’s chief content officer and Vogue’s global editorial director, noted in a statement. “There could be no better place for Vogue World to honor everything that is extraordinary about this city than the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.”

How will Vogue World: Milano differ from previous versions of the event?

While the core mission of Vogue World has always been to fête fashion and support local creative industries, each iteration of the event has approached its host city through a distinct and customized lens. The inaugural 2022 event in New York featured a dynamic fashion show and street fair intended to revitalize the city’s fashion week in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, Vogue World shifted tone to present an elegant evening of theater in London, benefiting the British capital’s performing arts scene.

In 2024, Vogue World: Paris paid a vibrant tribute to the intersection of fashion and sports at the historic Place Vendôme, drawing participation from more than 500 models, athletes, and performers. Most recently, the celebration traveled to Hollywood to explore fashion’s long-standing and storied love affair with the movies. The Milan edition will pivot toward the tangible realities of artisan labor, material innovation, and human ingenuity.

Who is helping to bring Vogue World: Milano to life?

Bringing a production of this scale to life requires a massive, coordinated effort from some of the most respected creative minds in the global fashion, art, and entertainment industries. The leadership team includes Anna Wintour and Francesca Ragazzi, supported by an extensive roster of creative talent.

Juan Costa Paz, hailing from the Paris-based creative studio Convoy, serves as the show’s creative director. Lady Amanda Harlech is spearheading the fashion direction, working alongside Peter Aluuan as styling director and Luca Galasso as Special Performers and Extended Cast Fashion Director. Movement and choreography are being meticulously executed by movement director Stephen Galloway and choreographer Charm La’Donna, while Jen Green of Genevieve Productions serves as show producer.

Judith Clark, professor of fashion and museology at the University of the Arts London, has joined the team as show curator. Executive production is being handled by Marie Julie Craeymeersch of Mode and the Moon in partnership with Marco Balich and Balich Wonder Studios, with Without Production managing intricate backstage operations.

Beauty and aesthetics are equally central to the production. Pat McGrath Labs serves as the official backstage makeup brand, with legendary makeup artist Dame Pat McGrath leading makeup design and execution. Hair styling is being directed by Cyndia Harvey, and nail styling is led by Eri Narita. In alignment with sustainable and circular fashion practices, select garments and accessories for the event are being sourced from eBay, Vogue’s official vintage and pre-loved partner.

On the technical and auditory fronts, Ivan Striga handles executive music production, with Gaspard Murphy and Thomas Roussel overseeing music direction. Ignace D’Haese of ARF&YES is spearheading the elaborate lighting design to illuminate the historic arcade.

What will Vogue World: Milano’s charitable component look like?

Since its inception in 2022, Vogue World has raised millions of dollars to support charitable organizations and cultural institutions across the globe. This year, the event is directing its philanthropic focus toward a major urban renewal initiative: the revitalization of the Quarto Oggiaro Library in northwestern Milan.

Vogue has committed an investment of at least two million euros to inaugurate a brand-new center within the library complex. The space is designed to foster fashion, music, and artistic talent among local youth, serving as a dynamic cultural hub where creativity, expertise, technology, and community converge.

“With this project, we aim to nurture the talent of Quarto Oggiaro’s young creatives by offering them tools, spaces, and opportunities for expression and collaboration,” says Stefano Parise, director of the Libraries Department of the City of Milan.

“The theme of the event revolves around the value of the human element and the need to preserve the meaning of doing, learning, and creating in an increasingly digital world,” Francesca Ragazzi explained. “The redevelopment of the Quarto Oggiaro Library—one of Milan’s priorities—embodies this vision by transforming a place historically dedicated to knowledge into a contemporary cultural hub where creativity, curiosity, and community come together in a vibrant way.”

Tommaso Sacchi, Milan City Councilor for Culture, emphasized the broader social impact of the initiative. “For us, investing in the Quarto Oggiaro Library means investing in the next generation,” Sacchi said. “Libraries today are no longer just places for books: they are social and cultural spaces where people study, meet, exchange ideas, and spend time together. Vogue World: Milano allows us to rethink this library on a much larger scale, making it more open, more welcoming, and more useful to the community around it. A city’s cultural life cannot exist only in its historic center: It has to reach the neighborhoods where everyday life actually happens.”

Barbara Tripodo, director of the library, echoed these sentiments, noting that the redevelopment will profoundly enrich neighborhood life by introducing renewed spaces for social interaction, technological innovation, and grassroots creative energy.
