Tiffany & Co. Brings Its Iconic Blue Box Café and Daniel Boulud Partnership to Southern California

For more than six decades, the cinematic allure of Breakfast at Tiffany’s has inextricably linked the legendary jewelry house with the romanticized fantasy of enjoying a morning meal on Fifth Avenue. Now, the iconic luxury brand is officially bringing its own tangible version of that timeless experience to the West Coast, merging high-end jewelry retail with sophisticated culinary hospitality in the heart of Southern California.

The newly debuted Blue Box Café by renowned chef Daniel Boulud has officially opened its doors at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California, positioned alongside a newly reimagined Tiffany & Co. boutique. This milestone opening marks the very first California location for the celebrated dining concept, which famously operates its flagship counterpart inside The Landmark—Tiffany’s historic Fifth Avenue location in New York City. By pairing world-class jewelry design with an immersive dining environment, the luxury house continues to expand its retail footprint into the realm of experiential hospitality, giving West Coast patrons a chance to physically step inside the brand’s legendary aesthetic universe.

Unsurprisingly, the unmistakable shade of Tiffany Blue permeates the entire space, yet the interior design thoughtfully avoids simply bathing the restaurant in the signature hue. Instead, the spatial narrative moves fluidly between saturated aqua surfaces and quieter, more grounded stretches of pale wood, silvery metal, and soft blue upholstery. Custom-designed striped dining chairs introduce another familiar and classic motif to the dining room, complete with the interlocking T&C monogram running discreetly down their backs, reinforcing the meticulous attention to detail that defines the brand.

The most theatrical design gesture happens overhead, where an arresting visual installation commands the room. Hundreds of iconic Tiffany Blue boxes appear to tumble dynamically across the ceiling in a dense, suspended arrangement, transforming one of the jewelry house’s most recognizable and coveted objects into an avant-garde sculptural feature. Directly below this floating cascade, the restaurant’s central bar provides a weightier, more architectural counterpoint. Framed by dramatically veined blue-green stone and a terrazzo floor scattered with subtle graphic motifs, the bar area balances whimsy with refined elegance.

Art adds another sophisticated layer of color and texture throughout the dining room, while carefully curated blue glass vases filled with fresh hydrangeas extend the signature palette all the way down to the individual tabletops. The cumulative design effect is unmistakably Tiffany, yet there is more than enough variation in material, pattern, and tone to keep the brand’s signature color from doing all the heavy lifting. Every design choice works in concert to evoke a sense of refined luxury that feels both entirely contemporary and deeply rooted in the heritage of the house.

When it comes to the culinary offerings, the menu thoughtfully bridges the gap between East Coast tradition and West Coast terroir. It carries forward beloved Blue Box Café staples, including the signature Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Tea at Tiffany’s experiences, while proudly incorporating hyper-local California ingredients into the daily preparations. Guests can expect dishes crafted with organic flour sourced from Petaluma County, sun-ripened apricots harvested from the fertile San Joaquin Valley, and rich, artisanal dairy products sourced directly from Sonoma.

"The Blue Box Café celebrates the pleasure of coming together over beautiful food in a refined setting," says Chef Daniel Boulud, reflecting on the expansion. "At South Coast Plaza, we are excited to preserve the distinctive charm and elegance guests know from New York while creating a menu that reflects the freshness, seasonality, and vibrant culinary spirit of California."

Together, the newly launched boutique and its accompanying café extend Tiffany’s retail experience far beyond traditional jewelry cases and into a fully realized lifestyle brand. In Costa Mesa, that means taking some of the house’s most recognizable cultural signatures—the legendary blue box, the proprietary color, the timeless monogram, and the enduring mythology of breakfast at Tiffany’s—and offering visitors a physical space where they can quite literally sit among them.

The Blue Box Café by Daniel Boulud is now officially open at the Tiffany & Co. boutique located within South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California.
