Alo is aggressively scaling up its international retail footprint, marked by a high-profile wave of flagship store openings across China and a simultaneous retail push into Europe. The Los Angeles-born activewear and wellness brand, known for its celebrity-endorsed athleisure and mindfulness-focused ethos, is deepening its presence in key metropolitan hubs as part of an ambitious strategy to capture a larger share of the global luxury and wellness market.
On October 16, the brand celebrated a major milestone with the official opening of its very first local flagship store located at K11 Musea in Hong Kong. Spanning an impressive 7,000 square feet across two distinct floors, the newly minted "Sanctuary" store occupies a prime location overlooking Victoria Dockside. The sprawling retail space is situated in close proximity to the prestigious Rosewood Hotel, further solidifying an ongoing collaborative partnership between the high-end hospitality destination and the activewear powerhouse.
Shoppers visiting the new Hong Kong flagship gain access to Alo’s complete product catalog. This comprehensive offering includes the brand’s signature womenswear and menswear lines, specialized footwear, performance accessories, leather goods, and a growing assortment of luxury sunglasses.
Describing the strategic importance of the launch, Alo stated that the opening "marks a significant milestone in Alo’s expansion across North Asia and reinforces Hong Kong’s role as a key market for the brand’s growing wellness community."

The grand opening event was a star-studded affair designed to showcase the brand’s lifestyle-oriented approach to retail. Festivities kicked off with an awe-inspiring performance utilizing 3,000 drones lighting up the skyline. Attendees and VIP guests were treated to an array of immersive wellness activations, including sound healing sessions, personalized journal customization stations, aura photography, and live fashion sketching. Adding significant global star power to the celebration, global brand ambassador and K-pop star Jisoo was in attendance, alongside prominent models Ming Xi and Stella Maxwell.
The experiential launch momentum continued throughout the opening weekend, offering consumers and wellness enthusiasts a diverse schedule of activities. The programming ranged from traditional Chinese medicine consultations and sound bowl healing to wellness walks, community yoga and pilates classes, breathwork sessions, and live DJ sets designed to infuse the retail environment with dynamic energy.
The retail strategy appears to be paying off immediately. According to local media reports, since the store soft-opened on September 25—intentionally timed one week ahead of China’s lucrative Golden Week holiday rush—sales reached an impressive 20 million renminbi, equivalent to roughly $2.9 million, during its first week of operation. Notably, tourists accounted for an overwhelming 60 percent of the total sales volume during this initial period.
Horace Lam, chief executive officer of K11 Hong Kong, told local media that the exceptional commercial performance of Alo directly reflects the shopping center’s overarching curation strategy, which is specifically tailored to attract younger, high-spending consumers. The introduction of Alo aligns with broader upgrades and incoming luxury concepts at K11 Musea. Alongside ongoing renovations for established luxury houses like Prada, Miu Miu, and Max Mara, the mall is also slated to welcome "The Place" LV, Louis Vuitton’s innovative hybrid retail concept that has previously launched in major metropolitan destinations such as Seoul and Bangkok.
While making major waves in Asia, Alo’s European expansion strategy is advancing in parallel. On October 15, the brand officially opened its very first store in Berlin, Germany. Spanning 6,000 square feet, the Berlin Sanctuary store introduces Alo’s signature community-driven wellness programming to the German market. The European debut was celebrated with a memorable candlelit yoga experience held at Tempodrom, one of the city’s most popular inner-city concert venues.

"The city’s creative energy offers a distinct setting for our California-rooted approach to premium apparel and wellness," said Benedetta Petruzzo, Alo’s international chief executive officer, in a statement regarding the Berlin launch. "We are entering with a long-term mindset, and this first Sanctuary gives us an opportunity to deepen our relationship with the local community and become part of their everyday lives."
The Berlin debut and the Hong Kong flagship are part of a much broader, highly coordinated global retail rollout. In addition to the K11 Musea flagship, Alo recently established a high-profile pop-up presence at Zhangyuan in Shanghai. Looking ahead, the brand has formally mapped out an expansive "eight store, seven cities" strategy across mainland China to capture the burgeoning domestic demand for premium wellness apparel.
Following the initial openings in Hong Kong and Shanghai, Alo is slated to roll out upcoming retail projects in several premier shopping destinations across the region. These planned openings include a flagship location at Shanghai’s HRKI Taikoo Hui, a store at Beijing’s China World Mall, an additional location at Hong Kong’s Lee Gardens, a flagship at Macao’s Galaxy Promenade, a flagship at Shenzhen’s Bay MixC, a flagship at Hangzhou’s in77, and a high-profile flagship at Taikoo Li Chengdu.
