Rebecca Hall’s Paris Fashion Week Experience: From Maison Margiela Front Row to Hidden Boutiques

Rebecca Hall is feeling hot. Literally.

“I didn’t know it was still summer in Paris,” the actor tells Vogue. “I packed for fall.”

Nevertheless, Hall persevered, securing her spot front row at Maison Margiela’s spring ready-to-wear show dressed in a striking all-black look. Thankfully, her footwear—a clever hybrid of boots and sandals that also made an appearance on the runway—offered some much-needed ventilation during the unexpectedly warm Parisian afternoon.

While Hall admits that her off-duty style is “pretty variable,” she notes that she almost always ends up defaulting to “a variation on pants and a button-down.” It comes as little surprise, then, that she frequently finds herself reaching for a pair of slouchy trousers in her day-to-day life. She might even be adding a brand-new silhouette to her wardrobe rotation soon, as the stirrup pants presented during the Maison Margiela presentation immediately caught her eye. They were far from the only elements of the collection to leave an impression; she was equally captivated by the structured necklines and the jackets featuring gravity-defying collars.

“I loved how there was this mashing of structure and then these diaphanous ’60s floral prints that looked like they could have come off a vintage tablecloth,” Hall says. But she adds, “Ultimately, the dress with the crushed silverware really sticks out in my memory.”

The high-fashion presentation was just one prominent item on Hall’s detailed and bustling Parisian agenda. She kicked off her morning with a deliberate preparation strategy consisting of a carefully chosen selection of local pastries. Embracing the culinary traditions of the French capital with a touch of humor, she jokes, “Carbs don’t behave the same in France. Scientific fact…”

Rebecca Hall’s Paris Itinerary Includes the Maison Margiela Show, Hotel Pastries, and Proust’s Bedroom

With a few precious hours of downtime to spare before her evening obligations, she made her way over to the Ninth Arrondissement with a specific mission in mind: expanding her ever-growing collection of button-down shirts.

“I go to a store in the Ninth called Cristaseya. They have the best button-down shirts in the most beautiful fabrics,” she shares. “They don’t really sell online unless they’re having a special event, so you have to go in person to get them.”

Her excursion proved successful. On this particular occasion, Hall walked away having added a sophisticated brown silk-wool blend piece to her personal wardrobe. With her shopping expedition concluded and the fashion show successfully behind her, her itinerary pointed toward the historic Marais district. There, she planned to visit the Musée Carnavalet to view a meticulous reconstruction of Marcel Proust’s iconic room, blending her appreciation for literature and history with her love for the city.

Even with a jam-packed schedule that moves seamlessly from high-fashion runways to historic museums and boutique shopping trips, Hall remains grounded, always prioritizing the personal connections that matter most to her.

“If I have free time in Paris, I like to eat food with friends that I don’t get to see all the time,” she says. “Done plenty of that this trip.”

Here, Rebecca Hall brings Vogue along for a closer look at her unforgettable day at the Maison Margiela show in the heart of Paris.
