Voigtländer Expands Fujifilm X-Mount Lineup with New Silver Editions of Nokton 23mm and 35mm f/1.2 Lenses

Fujifilm X-series photographers looking to match their silver camera bodies now have a sleek new aesthetic option for some of Voigtländer’s most highly regarded manual-focus glass. Cosina, the manufacturer behind the Voigtländer brand, has announced the upcoming release of silver finish variants for both the Nokton 23mm f/1.2 Aspherical and the Nokton 35mm f/1.2 lenses designed specifically for Fujifilm’s APS-C mirrorless cameras.

Previously available only in a classic black finish, these fast-aperture prime lenses have built a strong reputation among photographers for their optical performance, mechanical craftsmanship, and distinct rendering capabilities. The introduction of the silver versions provides a cohesive cosmetic match for popular silver camera bodies in the Fujifilm lineup, such as the X-T5, the compact X-M5, and the X-E5.

The Voigtländer Nokton 23mm f/1.2 Aspherical lens for APS-C sensors has been praised for its beautiful physical construction and impressive sharpness when stopped down to f/4, alongside its ability to produce rich, creamy bokeh when shot wide open at its maximum f/1.2 aperture. Offering a 35mm full-frame equivalent focal length, the 23mm lens is naturally suited for street photography, environmental portraits, and everyday documentary shooting.

Despite its fast aperture and all-metal barrel construction, the lens has been engineered to maintain a remarkably lightweight profile, tipping the scales at just 240 grams. This makes it an exceptionally well-balanced companion for smaller, lighter camera bodies like the Fujifilm X-M5, ensuring that the camera and lens combination remains agile and unobtrusive for mobile shooters.

Internally, the optical formula of the silver 23mm f/1.2 version remains identical to its black predecessor. The lens features ten optical elements organized into a sophisticated arrangement, including a complex double-sided aspherical element and two abnormal partial-dispersion glass elements. These specialized optical components work in tandem to minimize chromatic aberrations and maintain high image fidelity across the frame.

While the lens does not feature autofocus, it is equipped with electronic contacts that enable robust data communication with compatible Fujifilm camera bodies. This integration ensures that shooting data, EXIF information, and in-camera lens corrections are seamlessly recorded. Furthermore, the electronic communication supports camera features such as focus magnification and distance displays, bridging the gap between vintage mechanical handling and modern digital workflows.

Priced attractively for photographers diving into pre-orders, the silver Nokton 23mm f/1.2 is listed at $599 through major retailers like B&H, positioning it slightly lower than the current pricing for the black edition. Both color choices share the same robust build quality and internal design, giving users pure aesthetic flexibility depending on their camera body preference.

Joining the 23mm optic in receiving the silver treatment is the Voigtländer Nokton 35mm f/1.2 lens for the Fujifilm X mount. The black version of this lens has been a staple for X-series users since its introduction in 2021, celebrated for its classic optical rendering and intimate focal length.

The Nokton 35mm f/1.2 utilizes an almost symmetrical, Double-Gauss optical layout. This traditional design philosophy is particularly effective at controlling and reducing optical aberrations over a wide focal plane, resulting in natural subject separation and pleasing sharpness. To further enhance its artistic output, the lens incorporates 12 aperture blades, contributing to exceptionally smooth, rounded, and natural-looking bokeh highlights when shooting with shallow depth of field.

Designed with practical field use in mind, the silver Nokton 35mm f/1.2 features a close minimum focusing distance of 0.3 meters, allowing photographers to get physically close to their subjects for detailed compositions and dynamic perspectives. It utilizes a modest 46mm front filter thread, making it easy and cost-effective to equip with standard circular filters. The silver edition of the 35mm f/1.2 carries an expected retail price of $649, matching the price point of the established black version.

Both the silver Nokton 23mm f/1.2 Aspherical and the silver Nokton 35mm f/1.2 lenses are currently available for pre-order through authorized dealers such as B&H Photo Video, offering Fujifilm shooters an expanded palette of high-end manual-focus options tailored to complement the timeless design aesthetic of their favorite camera bodies.
